Whatever people say I am: A Camera?

That's what I'm not!

Re-Bornhub

We are told that the camera never lies, but it can certainly contort our perception of reality. In this comic, we follow a camera on its journey through various devices. It starts out its life in humble surroundings, as a lowly photobooth tasked with taking perfect passport pictures, though judging by the stern faces, nobody seems that excited about going on holiday. The camera is desperate to travel and see the world and goes through a series of reincarnations as it tries to determine the meaning of life. This comic was created in a collaboration between Confetti students, and a student and lecturer at NTU. It started in 2021 during Covid and has finally found a resting place in October 2026.

Meet the team

James Walker and Jordan Upton

Writers: James Walker and Jordan Upton

James specialises in Digital Storytelling and enjoys experimenting across different platforms. He is the Course Leader for BA (Hons) Creative Writing at NTU. He first met Jordan when he mentored him during a placement for Dawn of the Unread. For his application, Jordan submitted a short film he had made about the life of a CCTV camera. James loved it and suggested expanding the idea for his dissertation, which he oversaw as his supervisor. Now it is a comic. If nothing else, this comic represents the power of collaboration and the determination to keep shaping an idea until it finds a home. Jordan currently works as Social Media Manager at CBRE UK.
